# How long should I rest for?

It depends on what you need and have time for.
Some examples are:
- If you just need a moment to catch your breath walking across a room, that might only take a few seconds
- If you have exercise intolerance or post-exertional malaise, you might find yourself needing to rest for much long to recover your capacity after going to an appointment
- If you have brain fog and need to do mental work, you might need to take short & frequent breaks
Pay attention to yourself. You'll start to recognise the signs that you've had enough rest.
