# Rest

Rest is the best way to recover your energy and capacity.
**Physical** rest is when you stop using your muscles for a while so that they can recover from being used or overused.
It's best done lying down so that you don't need to use energy to stay upright. If you're sitting down or standing, lean on something that can support some of your weight so that you use less energy to stop yourself falling over.
**Mental** rest is when you stop thinking about something for a while.
You can mentally rest by:
- taking a deliberate, conscious breath or two
- going for a walk to take a break from your worries
- actively listening to a favourite song
- switching to a completely different task for a while
- think of something other than what you're thinking of that's tiring you out
- focussing on a single thing, such as your breath
