# 30 - May you lean into yourself

When you have a chronic condition, it's [[Question "Normal"|normal]] to sometimes (often?) get [[Feeling Frustrated|frustrated]] with yourself for not being able to [[Define Functional|function]] in the ways that you used to or want to.
It's also normal to want to "not be" the current version of you sometimes. This can look like binge watching shows, binge eating, or any other behaviour that distracts you from or numbs you to your current situation.
[[Distractions]] have their place, but my wish for you is that you'll lean into yourself as often as you can.
[[Reconnect with Yourself|Connect]] with the parts of yourself that are still recognisable as your true self. The parts that make you "you", the "you" who's living with a chronic condition. Don't let it [[We Are More Than Our Stories|define]] who you are.
Take an intentional breath & sit with those parts of yourself for a few moments.
If there are tears, allow them to flow. It's ok. Even if it is for the tenth time today.
(And, if it happens, ugly crying can actually be good for our [[Question Healthy|health]]. It releases emotional & physical tension.)
If there are no tears, that's ok too. Simply keep yourself company for a little while...
...and [[be present]] to the knowledge that you are so much more than your chronic condition.
